ART AFTER STROKE is an inspirational experience. It’s a celebration of creativity, talent, determination and strength.

About this Event

This year, instead of inviting you to the gallery, we are bringing the gallery to you.

This brand new event format offers you a deeper connection with the artists, who will be sharing their story; their process, inspiration, journey, and how they have overcome challenges after stroke to create art.

This one-day virtual event will include a series of live, in-depth interviews and interactive studio tours by featured artists. Many other stroke survivor artists will deliver short takes – pre-recorded videos in which they talk about and show their work.

You can stay for the whole day, or drop in and out.

Call for Artists and Performers

• Do you have a creative passion or pursuit?

• Is making art part of your stroke recovery journey?

• Are you inspired by art?

If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, and you are a stroke survivor in BC, we want to hear from you!

Art After Stroke is a celebration of creativity, talent, determination and strength.

About this Event

We have made the decision to postpone and re-imagine this event.

Our goal is to ensure as many people as possible hear our artists’ stories and experience their art and performances. So instead of hosting a live event, we will curate a collection of artist interviews and studio tours and share them on a dedicated YouTube playlist.

These videos will be available free, on-demand, to everyone. We will share the links as soon as they’re ready.

Our plan is still to support artists through sales of their work at the online silent auction. We already have some bids – and there are some great items at great prices! The auction for items that have bids will close at the originally stated day and time (Monday November 9 at noon). You can find the auction here.

We are very grateful to the artists and performers, sponsors, volunteers and ticket buyers who support this event. We apologize if this decision has caused any disappointment or inconvenience, and we’re committed to delivering the same great content in a more accessible format very soon. Thank you for your continued support!

• Stroke is the number one cause of disability in adults in BC.
• Every year there are more than 8,100 strokes in BC.
• Approximately 50,000 British Columbians are currently living with the effects of stroke.

OUR GOAL is to raise awareness and fundraise for important stroke recovery programming. We want everyone to know that there is life after stroke. After all, if you don’t know a stroke survivor yourself, then you do know someone who loves one.
